The mouse may not work with a Microsoft Bluetooth transceiver from a different mouse, but you can follow the instructions below to convert your current Microsoft Bluetooth transceiver to a generic Bluetooth dongle. This procedure may differ slightly depending on what operating system you are using.
Install the IntelliPoint software before putting the USB dongle into the computer. The software may still function properly if the drivers are already installed, but if not, then you will have to remove the drivers before reinserting the USB dongle. After inserting the USB dongle, the software pops up a window showing instructions on how to pair the mouse. This most likely will not work since there is an incompatibility with the mouse and transceiver. Select the checkbox at the bottom of the window to connect the mouse later. Once you do so, the software will begin installing Bluetooth drivers for the USB dongle, and after a few minutes, the transceiver will start being read by the system as a standard Bluetooth dongle. Once this happens, hold the connect button on the bottom of the mouse until the light on top starts alternating colors, then right-click on the Bluetooth icon in the tray and select "add a device". When the system finds the mouse, follow the prompts to install the drivers.
